Christian Pulisic's transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea in 2019 resulted in him having difficulty securing a starting position at Chelsea.
After failing under past coaches at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea sensation Christian Pulisic is eager for a "fresh start" under new manager Graham Potter.
Pulisic signed a £57 million deal from German club Borussia Dortmund to the Blues back in 2019, but he has had trouble holding onto a starting position. The American winger has only played 177 minutes so far this season without scoring or contributing an assist.
The signings of Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during the summer transfer window knocked Pulisic further down the Stamford Bridge pecking order, but the 24-year-old is eager to make a difference under Potter's leadership. According to football.london, Pulisic wanted to leave the Blues in the summer, but the team was hesitant to let it after selling Timo Werner and letting Romelu Lukaku return to Inter Milan on loan.
This year, Juventus and Premier League rivals Newcastle and Manchester United have reportedly expressed interest in buying the 24-year-old Pulisic from Stamford Bridge. The American winger is now focused on forcing his way into Potter's plans before the 2022 World Cup after attempting to negotiate a transfer exit in the summer.
The USMNT international told ESPN following Tuesday's 0-0 draw with Saudi Arabia: "I'm feeling good going back; I have a fresh start today, and I'm excited to play under the new boss.
So, I'm just eagerly anticipating it. I simply need to demonstrate my abilities, as everyone must, and as I have in the past.
There were worries that Pulisic, who suffered an injury while serving for his country, might have to miss a few of the team's future contests. After getting hurt during practice, the 24-year-old was unable to play in the USMNT's opening match of the international break against Japan. However, he was able to play against Saudi Arabia.
In Potter's first game in charge against RB Salzburg earlier this month, Pulisic entered the game as a late substitution. Pulisic will be looking to make an impression on the new head coach this week in training before a London derby against Crystal Palace. The American, 24, who has just two years left on his contract, intimated that he might not be at the club next year in a text message to recent acquisition Gabriel Slonina, but he is now aiming for a starting position under Potter as he seeks to revive his Chelsea career.
