Why Man United has a crucial advantage over Chelsea and Liverpool in the transfer battle for Jude Bellingham

Since Jude Bellingham first established himself at Birmingham City, the Premier League has been extensively linked with a move for him.

Chelsea and Liverpool are at a disadvantage to Man United in the Jude Bellingham transfer market.

According to reports, Chelsea is at a serious disadvantage in the competition to sign Jude Bellingham. Since the 19-year-old initially established himself at Birmingham City, he has been frequently linked with a move to the Premier League.

The Blues have a long-term interest in Bellingham, according to football.london. West Londoners kept an eye on the England international while he was still at the academy, but when they did little to further their interest, Borussia Dortmund pounced and brought the young star to the Signal Iduna Park.

The midfielder, whose deal with the German powerhouses expires in 2025, played 32 times in the Bundesliga last year and directly assisted 11 goals. Dortmund finished in second place, only behind the titans Bayern Munich, thanks to his outstanding performances.

Bellingham has continued his stellar play into the new campaign, heightening demand for his services. The Athletic reports that among them are Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Real Madrid.

Dortmund wants to keep the young player, who is worth €150 million (£131 million), according to the report. It is rumored that Bellingham's contract does not contain a release clause that could be invoked.

The Athletic also state that they must persuade the midfielder's father, Mark, in order to complete a transfer. And according to the Mirror, United may have an edge over their rivals because the club is already close to Mark.

According to the story, Mark and United director John Murtough have become good friends recently and remain close to this day. Bellingham's progress has reportedly being monitored by the Red Devils since he was 12 years old.

Regardless of a club's relationship with Bellingham's father, it might be challenging to persuade Bellingham to leave Dortmund. Prior to Dortmund's matchup with Manchester City in the Champions League earlier this month, he said: "Since I initially joined, the club has done a lot for me, made me feel very welcome, and given me the chance to grow even more. It would be rude to consider the future while ignoring that."

When asked if he had any plans to go back to England, he added: "To be honest, I don't give it much thought. It's a crucial matchup with Man City. It would be insane to even consider such a thing."
