After having an urgent hysterectomy, Chelsea manager Emma Hayes has decided to stop working with the Women's Super League club on a daily basis.

The Blues manager will take some time off from leading Chelsea while she recovers from endometriosis and tries to go back to full health.

Hayes announced that assistants Denise Reddy and Paul Green will assume temporary leadership.

As a result of my ongoing endometriosis battle, I had an emergency hysterectomy last Tuesday, according to Hayes. I'm now recovering, and regaining full health will take some time and patience.

"Over the years, we have developed a fantastic team, and we have taken a very multi-disciplinary approach to ensure that, should circumstances similar to this emerge, we are able to meet the challenge.

We have complete faith in Paul, Denise, and the entire staff. Additionally, we are aware of the team's exceptional qualities and are confident in their ability to uphold their high standards.

"Our supporters, you've had to put up with me screaming from the other side of the field every week, but now I want to hear you even louder because I'll be at home watching the team on television until I get back.

"Since my health is the most important thing right now, I know you'll understand that I have to prioritize what I need to do for myself. I absolutely anticipate recovering completely, and I look forward to seeing you soon."

The current WSL champions Early in the season, Chelsea is fourth in the table after defeating West Ham in their most recent match. Before beginning their Women's Champions League campaign on October 20 against Paris Saint-Germain, they play Everton this weekend.

Since taking over as Chelsea's manager in August 2012, Hayes, 45, has guided the team to five WSL championships. In January of this year, she was given the FIFA award for The Best Women's Coach for 2021.
